I was recently working on an article about ways to boost workout performance. Legendary bodybuilder and Mr. Olympia, Samir Bannout, was nice enough to share his own tips and tricks to boost workout performace. Samir had so many great points, I thought it warranted his own article. Not only are his tips incredibly helpful, but he himself abides by them and the results certainly show!
Mental Attitude
I personally did not really use much when it came to vamping up my workout intensity. What aided me the most was (and still is) my mentality- I ensure I always remain focused and enthusiatic when I train. Mental attitude is the most important thing because it helps bring up not only your level of intensity, but your level of motivation as well. You have to dream; be motivated and excited about what you are doing. Be driven and live in the moment!
Amino Acids
Recently (well, as recently in the past 15 years let say), I felt that taking Arginine and L-Citrulline well do help. What exactly do these wonderful Amino Acids do exactly? They increase blood flow and circulation which is essential for performance. These Amino Acids boost the delivery of nutrients to the body while simultaneously getting rid of waste products. Anything that increases circulation tends to have a very positive result on the body, without a doubt!
Diet
This one is pretty straight forward- food is fuel! In fact, any healthy lifestyle isn’t complete without proper nutrition. I always ensure I eat plenty of food so my body is prepared for the hard work. In addition, I also take 200mg of caffiene which gives my body that extra little boost it needs to help me crush my workouts!
Samir has quite an impressive resume! He won the Mr. Olympia title back in 1983 and has been featured in several magazines including: Strength and Health, MuscleMag International, Muscle Digest, Flex, Muscle Training Illustrated and Muscle and Fitness (to name a few)! He was also inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame back in 2002. Want to learn more about Samir? Visit here!
