Bio

Skip Jennings is the author of The Lotus Kitchen and Spirit Explosions, a motivational speaker, trusted transformational coach, Group Fitness manager for Equinox South Bay, Master Trainer for Schwinn Fitness, Bosu/Headstrum Fitness, Water Rower and owner of Mind, Body, Spirit Solutions LLC.  Skip was recently featured on the cover of American Fitness Magazine and has transformed the lives of many.  He is certified by AFAA, ACE, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from NYU.  With 25 years of experience, over fifteen qualifications in fitness and nutrition, and licensed as spiritual counselor/life coach, Skip continues to help transform the planet one life at a time.  You can catch Skip and coach KJ on their weekly podcast Better Than Yesterday. What type of sports did you play as a kid?

Track, Softball and Base Ball, Diving.  I started dancing at the age of 6.

When did you start working out?

I started working out in my freshman year at college.

What does a typical day look like in terms of what you eat?

I start with a protein shake, I will snack on fruits and veggies. Salad for lunch, with a couple of boiled eggs, Dinner is veggies fish or veggie protein of some kind.

How many days a week do you exercise and what are some of your preferred methods of exercise?

I workout 6 days a week.  Yoga, cycling, running, and resistance training are my preferred methods of exercise.

What injury prevention tip do you have for the post 45 athlete?

Listen to your body. Know when you are overtraining.  Pick a modality that feels right for you.

What are the top 3 supplements you would recommend for athletes over 45?

I would recommend a multivitamin, glucosamine, and Vitamin c.

What is your #1 fitness tip?

Rest, Rest, Rest.  Your body only heals when we rest.  Take time to recover.  Started you day with meditation and breathing, it is the fountain of youth.
